— HEY!
Get To Know Ken
Ken is a licensed mental health therapist/coach, loving husband, and trauma survivor. Ken received his Bachelors degree from Liberty University where he studied addictions and psychology. He completed his graduate studies at Wright State University, with a double concentration in chemical dependency and clinical mental health counseling. Ken spent six years working at Kettering Health Psychiatric Hospital in Dayton, OH.
In his 20s, Ken was overwhelmed with the death of his mother, who died suddenly of heart complications from alcoholic cardiomyopathy. His sister died of a drug overdose shortly thereafter. At the age of 26, Ken was in a car accident in which the car flipped four times and he was ejected. He suffered multiple injuries that included three weeks in a coma, two strokes and two brain injuries. This was rock bottom. Up to that point, Ken’s life choices had been based only on comfort and feelings. The rehabilitation that took place after the accident was not only physical and cognitive, but emotional and social as well. Ken’s traumatic personal experiences have shaped his empathetic approach to counseling.
Ken now specializes in helping people deal with anxiety, depression, addiction and other mental health issues. He is adept at helping individuals develop effective patterns of behavior and communication. Ken also has a passion for working with couples to help them create new relationship norms that get them back on the same team.
Ken brings seven years of clinical mental health experience with him to the online sessions, where he approaches each client uniquely with solution-focused and person-centered interventions. Ken’s therapeutic/coaching styles include cognitive, behavioral, dialectical, psychodynamic and emotionally focused.
Ken now lives in Chattanooga, TN where he offers teletherapy/coaching services. He and his wife like to travel where they can experience different cultural experiences. They both have a heart for all animals, but they enjoy the company of their 3 cats the most – Remi, Mozzie and Zella.
